And now for something completely different…

In an effort to shake up the match report experience, I have decided to experiment with a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Enjoy

February the month

The day of the twenty first

Boys in Basingstoke

Pres was absent – weak

Took Timye to play in goal

Strong lineup, good chance

BK got a goal

Then he got another one

Strong start to the game

Basingstoke replied

I can’t remember the goal

From their number nine

Phil then grabbed one more

At the end of the quarter

3 – 1 to Soton

Next quarter was good

Vidler scored a decent goal

So too did Perry

Winning at half time

5-3 to the boys in blue

Looking good to win

Things then fell apart

Conceded 3 – scores level

Taylor-Rose got rapped

But then Horlock scored

Absolutely slanged it in

Just about winning

Final quarter time

The game balanced on a knife

Go big or go home

Started to go big

Horlock sending us two clear

Hope springs eternal

Five minutes to go

Perry gets butted, goes blind

Darkness blinds us all

Four scored against us

The final whistle then sounds

The taste of defeat

First half was solid

Played some very good polo

Good effort all round

Shame we didn’t win

But still some encouragement

At least we have fun
