Last week saw the Men of the Southampton 2nd team play their first match of the
season against Andover men.
The match started slowly, with just one goal from Conal in the first quarter,
leaving us 1 – 0 up at the break.
We kept the in-break chat nice and calm, with no Greek swear words and came out
for the next quarter, where there was a flurry of goals from both teams. BKS
struck home 2 from the pit, while Robin also got one in from somewhere.
Andover scored 2 leaving us 4-2 up at the halfway mark.
Our 3rd quarter was by far the worst, levelling the game at 5 all, as the team
(especially the captain) became tired from effects of a hard spinning and polo
session the night before. A surprisingly quick 14 year old beat Horlock to the
swim off which was a little insulting… more training needed!
Mitchell Clarke kept up enthusiasm and energy for the final quarter, which saw
4 goals from Southampton and only 3 from Andover bringing us to our first win
of the season!
A great start for the Men’s seconds. Please come and support our next game at
home this Wednesday!
