Southampton- 10-7 -Exeter

Great start to the season with a fantastic win from SUWPC’s ‘Biggest Boys’!

We rocked up to the pool pumped and ready, after Andrea’s inspirational speech, and after a quick team talk and an even quicker warm up, the game was away! We soon picked out their best players and pressed them out of the game, reducing their threat. The first quarter end 3-3 with Andrea, Anton and Tim firing passed the Exeter keeper. However going down to 6-4 at half time, with only a cheeky goal from Andrea, we had some work to do! Our tough press defence was too much for the Exeter boys, and their players became frustrated resulting in multiple majors (which we rarely capitalised on)! However the 2nd half of the game was all Southampton, and we cruised in for a 10-7 victory.

All in all a fantastic start to the season and special mention goes to Man of the Match Robin, who pulled some unbelievable saves to deny an Exeter comeback! Also to our professional swim off champion, Alex Horlock, who proceeded twice to get to the ball first only to swim past it, he’s just too quick!

Finally I just want to say a huge thank you for everyone who helped out with the table and came down to support and creating a great atmosphere!
